help with removing 305 heads,
Ok so I'm trying to remove my 305 heads&I got the rods out&there's 9 nuts I belive&they won't budge...what should I do use a piece of pipe like a breaker bar?is that all I have left to do is to remove thise nuts?

Do I remove the nuts in the rocker arms completly?

I've allready loosend them but I only see 9 nuts on the head. There between the valve springs&below them where do I fund the other 8?

Keep in mind the top rowe of head bolts you have 2 that are different lenths. If you look by the oil drain back holes on the end of each head you`ll see the bolts, these bolts must go back in the same holes. You`ll have a total of 4 bolts (2 per head) that are shorter than the top bolts and longer than the lower bolts.

Hi,i dont remember where i seen it,but,there was a photo of a chevy cylinder head,that the clown didnt remove the outer bolts,and proceeded to use wedges to get the head off,and broke the head lengthwise.
(figured that should be good for 2 smiley faces)

Dead blow hammer??....does that mean beat it to death??.....LMAO...I usually use my 1/2" breaker bar inserted into a center intake port to pop the head loose once the bolts are all out.Dead blow hammer to afore mentioned breaker bar does the trick. Just be careful that it doesn't jump over the dowel pins and onto your foot!
