A mini he bought, he's stripping it, I'm doing any welding needed but he wants it pained a nice colour, I've prepared and sprayed cars but like 30 or 35 years ago. I used to buy spraying enamel and spraying thinners and spray. What do they use now???
I hear people on here talk about 2 pot paints, how does that work. Can someone tell me in an easy way what brand etc????? Drying times etc

These days we use urethanes.. The 2k paints are materials that require an activator or hardener in order to cure. The new materials do not cure or harden unless you have mixed the hardener or activator in before it is shot. Most of us use epoxy primer and then a color coat and then a clear coat. There are single stage paints in color coats that do not require a clear coat.
I know this is about as clear as mud but we are a long way down the road from the laquers or enamels used back when. We would need to have some idea of what brands are available in your area.
Thanks I've learnt a lot, I think I will undercoat it in a 1 pot calcium plumbate grey. Then I will go talk to a paint shop here for advice. That shaking stirring and painting all in one day may be the best bit of advice I get. Thanks peeps.
