Great car...

You know it's amazing how many nitwits in this string couldn't find cool with a roadmap.

You're gonna need elephant ears, custom headers and a custom oil pan. If you need names let me know.

You will also probably have to remove the brake power booster if it has one.

Keep in mind that with the elephant ears, you're gonna feel every vibration. This thing will not be fun to drive for long distances.

You're actually on to something very cool, that will be absolutely brutal. Chrysler put 426s in the A-body Barracudas and Darts in '68, and these cars are still dominating the Super Stock class.

Also, if you've got the coin, you can go with an aluminum Keith Black Street Hemi block. When the engine is assembled, it will weigh less than a 6-cylinder. These KB pieces are basically the same as the Top Fuel blocks, but they've got water jackets and factory mounts. I've got one in my Charger, and I don't regret a nickel of the investment.

Depending on what you plan to do with the car, I've driven mine across most of the country, and it's a blast.

You're right, I don't have a hemi nor do I have a Camaro. This post was put in behalf of my brother who is currently in the middle east. Before he departed he had a 72 Chevy Nova that he was working on. This car is awsome. A SBC 350 with tunnel ram, dual carbs, air scoop, fuel cell, elec. fuel pump, timing gears, camel hump heads, roll cage, no rear seat, th400. He was either going to sell it or something....he worked so hard on it that he just gave it to me.

Since then we talked and he is just thinking on what his next project car build would be....He really likes the 69 camaro, but since this thread was created he has changed his mind. He will either build a 68-70 charger with a Hemi (if available) or with a 440 w/hemi heads.

For the record, I did own a Camaro once...a 1967 camaro.

i think the hemi in a chevy would be awesome,,,,,,,,

I mean whats wrong with doing that......... if he wanted to put a chevy in a mopar you would think it would be ok , after all
its his project and if he wants a hemi in a chevy go for it, but as far as i know there are NO kits, you maybe able to use the elephant ears( the big plate that mounts up front to the water pump housing ect)..

anyway good luck should be one badd azzzzzzzz ride......

id love to see, post some pics, BTW i did see a chevy with a 440 in it and it was tight.... but i think it was a mid 70s chevy.....

but it was done very nicely,

good luck

First, a couple of things about the top fuel "aftermarket" hemis- they are just basically high end replacement parts for a stock hemi- for instance, our "Glacier Shaker" top fuel funny car up here runs an aluminum aftermarket block but cast iron hemi heads ( he just has several sets, so he keeps using them) and runs consistant low 5s for about a decade now, which is pretty good at our little local track by low buck regular guys.

I have a top fuel crank myself, that I put in a mopar 440 before they had aftermarket cranks and blocks like they do now, and top fuel used to be a pipeline for killer parts for the bracket boys for years. You take a stroker top fuel crank, turn off the lenco style rear bolt pattern to the crank, and you had a 500 ci stroker long before they were common (doing this since the early 80s)

I originally started racing Chevies- and switched to mopars after about 5 years when I found out it was actually cheaper to race mopars LOL- poeple look at me like I stepped in fresh squoze dog doo when I say that- but it just cost me more to make a chev hold together season after season than a mopar.

It is still cheaper to buy a whole mopar car with a 400 or 440 in it than to get a BB chev- it is like BB chevs are made from unobtanium now or something.

They are not in the hemi category, but darn close initial purchase price wise!

Swaps are fun though, I just got through helping a buddy put a northstar V-8 in his Fiero kit car, and that car really scoots!

For the record, I have owned many chevies, and one camaro, but I have never liked camaroes of any type "Clone cars" there are so many red retarded camaroes in the world, I think they have a secret breeding ground somewhere unholy.

If you want your vehicle to truly stand out from the crowd you have to different, but different in a way that makes people say "wow, check that out!." I think a Hemi powered Camaro would be just that kind of different.

and that Chrysler add was very funny.

If you want to see a real Chevy and Ford to mopar swap look at all the Cummins in Chevies and Fords LOL- I am helping my bro to put his 65 Carrall onto a Dodge Cummins truck - we took off the whole truck body and we are preparing to bolt on the body right on the truck frame- it is all dodge except the body LOL

We had planned years ago to put a 383 stroker in it- and in fact, the motor is still a coffee table in the garage, brand new and never been in anything. When my brother found a fleet vehicle cummins, the whole idea changed.

My buddy with the fiero works "on the slope" (prudhoe bay) and I will not see him til summer. Will get pics next time!

FWIW, I helped a pal put a 283 into a fiero,\..Had a duntov cam, 2X4's and a turbo350,,,Headers were available but took some tweaking...When it was done, he had a really quick sleeper. I still see it around, but I have heard that the guy who has it now put a 350 or 383 in,,,,No bodies talking I saw him shut down a couple of big money players at the illegal street races in Dominquez
