First of all, glad to hear that you were able to solve your problem. Secondly, as you and others most likley know by now, but rookies do not realize, is that these hot rods don't simply bolt together. With the wide variety of parts involved, (original, reproduction, NOS, steel, fiberglass, etc.) and the various quality from who knows how many sources, not everything is going to line up without some modification or alteration.

Even parts from the same vendor do not always fit the way they should. Yet, the long list of vendors makes it easier on all of us to participate as hot rodders.

Back to the fan - yes, it will work though it will not be as efficient if for no other reason, lack of a shroud plus that fan will block cooler air. You also need to be aware that the blades, if it is really a 'puller' that you want to convert, will not rotate the correct direction and reversing the motor leads MAY NOT work, or if it does, and the fan is a SPAL type, you again lose efficiency. There are some very thin fans available plus you can always mount two smaller fans offset from that water pump snout. Many folks like some of the late double Ford fans -

Two other ways - 1, an electric water pump or 2, a Zip's water pump riser - Speedway has this : Zips Small Block Chevy Water Pump Riser - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop (I am 'assuming' your car will Chebbie powered, if not, we'll return to the drawing board)
