A guy I know from another board got fed up with the China made crap and couldn't afford to spend big bucks on an American made unit so he built his own. Not hard at all if you have a drill press, saw and welding machine. I have a 12 ton 'made in USA' and I maxed it out several times and wish it was a bit heavier but so far, it's done everything I've asked of it for the last 20 years and it's still on the same bottle jack! Ya might check out Craigslist for one. I see them quite often in the Houston one. Use the search box....
