That purple gun is not an HVLP. I think the one everyone likes is # 43430-8VGA. It's on sale for $39.99.

My HF HVLP is also purple...so maybe they've got more than one purple gun now. Best to go by the item number like redsdad suggests.

Just about all their guns are purple, I've seen at least 8 different part numbers with all different prices. Couldn't begin to tell them apart by looking. I do know that you can get a couple of different tips for the 43430 gun. It comes with a 1.8, I was able to buy a 1.4 and a 2.0 for it.

S10, Are you sure about that tip size? I bought two of those things some time back and both came with a 1.4 tip

It normally comes with a 1.4mm nozzle set, perhaps someone changed it out and returned it. I did manage to get hold of a 2.2mm nozzle set for my 43430, but it was way too big for my use. I think you could spray house paint straight from the can through that 2.2mm tip.

Those tips are used for the spraying of heavy stuff like some of the body fillers that are sprayable..Gel coats in fiberglass and glass resins when laminating..

They do have a place in the shop for that sort of thing..

Sam, Knowing how big the hole is in my primer gun with a 2.0, I figured a 2.2 was for spraying regular "Bondo" type filler, or mabe old undercoating. LOL

I don't do house paint!

While on this subject, have any of you guys sprayed Evercoat's G2 with this gun using a 1.8 tip? What is the best tip size for that stuff with any HVLP gun? Since my old Devillbiss HVLP (1.6 tip) died all I have is guns with the 1.4 tip which simply don't work with something this heavy. The 1.6 was too small although I could use it but now I am going to get new tips for these HF guns for primers and I am open to suggestions.

I am using a 1.8mm nozzle to spray Omni MX241 which is fairly heavy bodied and it does just fine.

Hmm, maybe it was a 1.4... I know I got one smaller and one larger just in case.
