Hi , Got a question about tires ??

I'm building a '32 sedan that has been converted into a "delivery" , and the guy that started this project installed wide fender flares on the rear , so I pretty much need to put wide tires on the rear to make it look right....
I'll be running a "Blown" 540ci all brodix Aluminum BIG Block Chevy motor in it , so horsepower should not be an issue to handle these tire..

I would like to find a tire "reasonably" priced that has a tread width of 15"+ to do this with , and then I need to find a nice polished Aluminum wheel that will carry it..... other than Mickey Thompsons , is there any tires & wheels out there that fit this catagory ??? And am I stuck with a 15" diameter wheel ? I'd like to buy these for around $1000. for two rear wheels & Tires..... Am I dreaming ??

Thanks,
Ron

Well I was going to say "Mickey Thompson" but.........I have 2 questions, why don't you just pull the rear fenders and put stock width after market, glass or steel back on? is the frame pro-streeted or something like that and why are you stuck with 15" wheels?

Hi.... Well the guy that I bought this conversion off of did exactly what I was wanting to do , and go with the wide rear tire look... But I'm "NOT" stuck with any tire combination as of yet.... I can go with any wheel diameter that won't put me into bunkrupcy ... but In the pics I will be posting , you will see why a wide as possible tire would look better....!?

Does anyone other than Mickey Thompson make wide tires (15"-18") !?!?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!
Ron

Oh Ok, I just looked up Hoosier tire, they make what the call "The Pro Street Radial" looks like it will fit your requirements. Looks like Summit Racing sells them...not cheap, $300 + each. I just looked on ebay and Jegs sells them, if you wan't really big ones $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I've got Hoosier Pro streets and I feel they are the best of the big wide tires. They work very well when it is wet and they last a long time. Good traction when it is dry. I have over 17k miles on mine and they aren't even to half life yet.

They are on Convo Pro wheels.

well did some looking around , and I've come to the conclusion that I have more choices for tires than I do for wheels that the tires fit on !! LOL

I would have liked to go with a 18" diameter wheel , but there are not many choices out there for 18" ..!! What is the largest brake rotor & Quality brake caliper combo I can go with on a "plentiful" 15" diameter wheel ?? I've seen where people have fit 12" rotors on their cars , but no one mentioned anything about what brake caliper they were going with.....

Thanks,
Ron

I think Firestone also has a bigger wheel big tire. Try Summitracing.com

I have 11 rotors and the GM caliper is pretty close. I really don't think you will need a larger brake system. Hawk pads really help and a double diaphragm booster will be about all you will need.
