Hi i have a question?

hey everyone, my question involves a 1990 Plymoth sundance or crysler sundance, but anyways it has 4 doors and a 4cyl engine, well the car is my cousins and he thinks he blew the engine in it, he says that there is a lot of white smoke coming out of the hood and exhaust, the engine still runs but make a weird noise, the RMP's are where there supposed to be,, so what is the problem with the engine? i'am interested in the car should i buy it from him?

Thanks alot.

Chrysler 2.2-2.5 four cylinder motors are prone to head gasket failure, warpage/cracks (as are most american bi-metal engines). If it is just a head gasket, have the head milled flat and re-assemble with a new gasket set. If the head has minor cracks in the combustion chamber between the valves it is still usable. If it has cracks in the chamber anywhere else it's junk. Also check for cracks at the water crossover holes (some can be repaired) and at the oil transfer rail on top where the valve adjusters are (junk).
