i was looking at hids what is the diffrence between them there is like 3000k up to 12000k what is the diffrence which is brighter ? i have no idea about hids

HID's by far are the whitest and brightest. HID lighting requires a ballast to operate, almost like a fluorescent lamp. They are understandably more expensive that halogen lighting.

There all bright.. the 3000k to 12000k means how blue they look. I believe higher the number the more blue-ish they look but don't quote me on that

HID is an abbreviation for High Intensity Discharge. This technology has been around for 50 years but only recently in cars.
This type of lighting is found in parking lots and street lighting as well as large indoor spaces.

The apparent difference in cars is that it has a very fast warm up time.

The 3000K - 12000K refers to the color temperature of the light expressed in *Kelvin. The 3000K being in the infrared end of the visible light spectrum and the 12000K being in the ultraviolet.

I believe these lights require more power than standard lights-power runs though light switch inside cab-not good-risk of fire -i think dennis carpenter makes a kit to run off battery.I think painless makes a kit also.
