high build primer over epoxy

Hi, I have just finished putting epoxy primer on my back fenders, running boards, and rear deck lid as I have finally got them reasonably staight and clean.I am wondering if I should put a coat of high build primer on them now, within my 3 day window for the epoxy?I'm wondering cause the pieces are going to need a little more work before the will be good to paint.Bondo was put onto bare metal before epoxy, but there is still some ripples etc.I am wondering if the high build now will make it easier to sand later, or will just the epoxy be a tougher surface to take the abuse of building the rest of this car?The underside of the deck lid with the framework has me concerned about getting it scuffed properly latter on . Thanks Jim.

if you have more bondo going on then do that on top of the epoxy then put the 2k on top. you wont need to sand the epoxy unless your out of the recoat window.

I vote for the urethane over the epoxy if you want to surface it out (block it) nice.

As far as the window, on something as easy and as important as the fenders or other parts, I just have to give it a good scuff if I am anywhere near that window. In four or five hours, yeah I will apply the urethane right over it. Any longer than that, forget it, I am going to scuff it with a red scuff pad.

Another topic -- fenderwell protection

jcarter,

In a search I saw that last year you were looking for a way to protect your fenderwells from rocks. I am street rodding a 39 Olds and have the same situation.

Did you find a good solution?

John
