High Torque mini starter
I'm wiring my 59 chevy apache with a painless kit. I have a Chevrolet high torque mini starter. I attached the battery positive to the top post of the solenoid along with a 8 guage hot wire to the maxi fuse. I then attached the purple or start wire to the spade terminal on the solenoid. There is a bottom post with nothing attached. What is this for?
Thanks for your help. |

Doc here,
Well, not knowing what starter you have .. MY BEST GUESS would be that it is an "R" terminal for the secondary ignition for a points type ignition..not used for HEI or CDS.. Assuming it is a smaller terminal AND the starter motor IS hooked up to the solenoid. Can you snap a photo and post it here? that would help. Doc

The bottom post is the same size as the top post. The headers are in the way so I can't get in there to see or read. I guess it makes too much sense to look at it closely before I installed it. Where does the neutral safety switch from the tranny attach?
