Highboy and Coupe tire sizes - what ya running?
Been researching this for a couple days and I'm just wondering what people are running for big-n-littles on highboys, Model A's and Deuces.
I'm running 15" rims all the way around and the best I've been able to find without going to a light truck tire for the rear are 255/70/R15 BF Goodrich Radial TA's. These are just under 29" tall. I'd really prefer a 30" tire but will accept the 1" difference if I have to. Fronts are no problem since you can pick up 195/60/15's almost anywhere. I don't really want to spend the exorbitant price they're asking for cheater slicks and buying anything from Coker is out of the question. Also don't want white walls. If I want to go to a light truck / performance SUV tire I can easily find 265/75's which are just over 30.5". The only problem I can see with these tires is that for a light car like a glass deuce they might be a bit rough riding since the sidewalls are a bit thicker than passenger car tires. Thoughts?????

Hiboy Rear Tires
Hey Centerline, I have had B.F. Goodrich 285/70/R15 on my Deuce for the last 8 yrs and also am looking for New Rears. They stopped making them but I see where not Coker but Diamondback Classics has them now. I had Good Luck with mine. They are 30 in tall and about 9 in wide. I sure would like to find something 33 x 10 in a 15 in with a decent highway tread. Anybody out there got any suggestions?

I have a Diamondback catalog. Yes they do have them but they are double the cost of anything similar in a light truck / sport truck tire. Too many $$$ for my blood.
These look interesting. They're Falken and are available in 265/70/15s, just a shade under 30" tall with a section width a little over 10". Reasonable prices too - under a hundred bucks each. ![]()

I haven't mounted them yet, but for the '36 Fordillac I have 3.50x16 motorsickle tires for the front, and 7.00x16's for the rear. Front rims are 4" early Ply or Dodge artillery, the rears are 5"x16" Olds artillery. Doesn't help you any, but that's what I have.
On my '48 Pontiac I'm running 235x75R15 light truck radials, shaved sidewalls for wide whites on the rear, and 22570R15's on the front, again shaved sidewalls. I don't see any sacrifice in ride quality, but my car weights half a ton more than a fenderless duece. The rear tires are HUGE, which you can't really see because of the fender skirts, but it does give a "big and little" stance. I don't think that light truck radials, unless you get into load range D or E are any thicker sidewall than passenger car tires. I buy tires at my buddies slavage yard for cheap, but it's getting hard to find 15" rubber any more. Brian |

Yes 15" rubber, especially any of the larger sizes is getting hard to find. Your main choices are Coker or Diamonback and then you'll pay twice the price of what they cost when they were being produced by the major manufacturers and double the cost of what you can buy now in a light truck/SUV tire.
After viewing hundreds of photos I had taken, just as many on the net and reviewing every thread I could find on every hot rod forum I could find I finally decided on tires. Ordered a set of 255/70/15 Goodyear Eagle II for the rear (29.05" tall and 10+" section width when mounted on a 7.5" rim) and 195/60/15 Goodyear Eagles for the front (24.25" tall). Both are passenger car tires, but I will have to remove the raised white letters on the rear tires. The fronts are blackwalls. My rims, when they finally arrive from Wheel Vintiques are 15x8's on the rear and 15x6 on the front. Should have a pretty good big-n-little stance.

Centerline...just saw this post, for my full fendered '32 Victoria I'm running 195/65/15's on the front and Bridgestone Alenza 255/70/16's on the rear. I think they are 29.9" diam.....fills up the fender nicely and they are available at Costco
