we have a drivechain style electric remote control hoist mounted on wheels that roll on a huge I beam in which also rolls on its own wheels on a huge I beams at both ends of said I beam
so it can roll fore and aft- and also side to side.
the electrical cable to the hoist motor runs through washers suspended on a small steel cable
i should take pics sometime, it is very handy and alot of ppl have seen it and love it as well. we have pulled billions of engines with it since 94 when the shop was built
maybe it will give ppl ideas on how to set up something similar in their shop
we have it set up just in front of the old weaver 9,000lb twin poster vehicle lift
Pics would be good.
More ideas the better.
