There is no vacuum advance total timing is at 35 degrees, the choke is manual and I have it turned to the open position, I never checked the float level and am really not sure how to I have to check with the guy who rebuilt it for the jet sizes. I took a elderbrok off it which ran ok but we were looking for a little more power I tried a 750 and a 600 elderbrok it ran about the same with either it actually lost a few tenths with the 750 but idled ok with either.

Did your car back fire any thru the carb? if so you may have a power valve problem....which is dumping extra fuel into the carb.
To check your float level there are two plugs on the float bowls. take these out and adjust the floats, loosen the flat head screw ontop of the bowl and turn the 3/4 or 5/8 nut that is below it to bring the fuel level to where it is almost but not pouring out of the sight plugs. Also there is a secondary adjustment on the bottom of the carb, for the secondary butterflys. This may be opened to far and letting air and fuel thru them. |
