i just picked up a holley mechanical secondary double pumper & before i put it on the car i was looking over the carb & i noticed that the secondaries only open up at WOT. don't they all suppose to open up at the same time.

primaries open first then the secondaries open at a faster rate until they match at W.O.T.

There are parts available that gives a 1:1 ratio, primaries opening right along w/the secondaries. But this is a race-only set-up, NOT what you'd want for a vehicle driven on the street, or even when raced unless the engine/vehicle was set up for it.

The stock progressive linkage lets the engine run mostly on the primaries until you get after it, like vinniekq2 said. If not for progressive linkage the carb would be terrible for mileage and would be a chore to drive on the street.

Bottom line, leave it as-is, it's that way for good reasons!
