holley 4160 rebuild question
Im rebuilding a 4160 1850 list for a 390 fe ford because the accelarator pump woulndt shoot fuel when the throttle was worked. Upon dis assembly i noticed under the discharge shooter screw the only part that came out was a steel tubular cylinder about a 1/2 long. The holley rebuild sheet shows a discharge ball and a pointy weight. Is there something missing? Ive rebuilt 4100 fords before and they always have the ball & weight. Can i substitute these parts if they indeed are needed? Thanks

re: holley 4160 rebuild question
I would have to assume thats why the squirter does not sqirt, someone has farmered it up. The pointy thing is pointy so it acts like a needle and seat and will not allow fuel to be pulled out of the discharge nozzles at wot. It needs the pressure of the accelerator pump to lift it of the seat and squirt. The part you took out is garbage, someone probably lost the original piece.
