holley 600 (4160) on a 331 v8

I'm currently helping a friend get his ratrod 52 caddy running. It had a rochester 4bbl on it from the factory, which has been really expensive and hard to find, so he bought a rebuilt holley 600 vaccum secondary carb and ordered an adapter plate for the stock intake manifold. Question is, will this be too much carb for the stock motor? I'm pretty sure the stock rochester flowed a lot less than 600 cfm. If so, is there any mods we can do to the carb to achieve the proper flow or are we stuck trying to find a lower cfm carb?

re: holley 600 (4160) on a 331 v8

600 Holleys are used on 327-350s all the time................I don't see why it wouldn't work well in your case.

Does your adapter have separate holes for each barrel, or is it one open hole? That may make a difference on how it performs.
