Holley Carb Problems..

Well i have been having extremely aggrivating problems with holley carbs. I have been through four of the 65-1850s series wich are the 600cfm remanufactured ones. They would never idle right and i couldnt adjust it with the mixture scews on each side and all kinds of problems. Today i went to O'Reilly's where i bought the carb(carbs) from and told them i wanted to get a edelbrock. So i get the edelbrock and bring it home hook it up and it runs like a dream. Sets just right and runs great. WHAT GIVES>>??

Good one

I think you just bought the best all around street carb you can currently get.
Edelbrocks work!!! And no power valve issues.

There is your problem...never buy a used Holley carb unless you know it worked well to begin with.

Your comparing used remanufactured junk with a new Edelbrock? Thats not fair?

i had the same problem with my holly that came on my 69 f100 i just couldn't tune the thing to work correctly on my truck. I dint matter what i did the thging would hesitate and want to bog out finally i said forget it,I dont need the stress and bought a eidelbrock and my truck runs like a champ. I learned a valuable lesson "if you have lots of spare time and enjoys dismantling carbs buy a holly".

Never buy a used Holly even if rebuilt. When you have a problem with a Holly go to their site for a free downloadable manual and trouble shooters guide. From what you described it was a minor adjustment with the accelerator pump and delivery nozzles.
Could have save some money by reading up on the carb.
The Knowledge Base has a lot of info reguarding this problem.
Heres Hollys site for future referance.
