I have one of the externally referenced electric chokes. There is a small set screw at the front of the choke assembly that goes into the vacuum pull off chamber where the piston is. The set screw looks just like one of the ones for the idle mixture adjustment on the metering blocks, only it sits flush into the choke. It comes to a point and looks like it possibly controls the amount of vacuum pull off.
This set screw is interfering with the choke pull off at warm up. It won't allow my choke plate to open smoothly. Does anyone know exactly what the set screw is for, or what the correct baseline adjustment is?
Took a blurry pic of my choke assembly it's an internally referenced buy I think I have the screw your talking about. First pic in my gallery. I looked at it and it does seem to be a vacuum adjustment of some sort. It is set one full turn in from the head being flush with the housing. My choke works good so I hope this will help you..

Wussies, and people that drive their hot rods to work everyday at 6:00 AM.
WICKEDBLAB! What up fool? What are you doing trolling around here again?
See what happens when you tell one of your local hood rats about this site. They come on talk trash, and then split before you get a chance to tell them what time is it.
A little. I have been pretty busy this week so I have only been able to make small adjustments. I went with one turn out on the screw and my at least now the choke isn't binding up. The choke is opening up way too fast. It will fast idle for about a second and then returns to idle. I think the choke plate is opening up, but I haven't watched it yet. I am just guessing from what it sounds like in the driver's seat.
I am going to look at the thermostat's bimetal coil and see if there are any issues.
Does anyone know if you can adjust the amount of choke pull off from the set screw that I originally started this post about?

i can build a killer smallblock for cheap compared to a bb.....
Quit screwing around. Loosen up the sphincter, (don't be such a tight ***). You have done everything there is to do with a normally aspirated small block. Why don't you build something like this?
Just get some aluminum heads and a nice block. New front springs shouldn't be too much for the '69.
