holly 1850-2 idle adjustments

hello everybody i recently bought a second hand holley 1850-2 it was in good shape but the throttle bas was broke i changed and put new holley gaskets and all the stuff the problem is that when i close the idle screws on the metering block nothing happens i close it at all and the engine does not shut off i dont know it does not look like is flooding or something what coul be the cause the new platte i put becomes from a 9834-3405 600cfm old carb i do the comparison and they was exactly the same than the broke one
any help will be aprreciated

You really must know what your doing when mixing Holley parts. There are various base plate designs and they all appear similar. You must also use the proper base plate gasket for the base plate and base.

You say the carb was in great shape but the base plate was broken , hope you got a great deal on it....like free .

yes it was almost free i take it just because my other 600 cfm holley carb is too old and i was thinking tha with this one i can have less troubles but as i see im thinking seriously to go back to my old carb it used to work better than this one i put the other baseplate because they have the same number stamped so that is why i decide to put it
