Home made LED tail turn brake

Does anyone know how to wire LED lights for stop turn tail. I found a site that gives an electrical formula to figure out the resistor for a given voltage and load, but there must be a way to do a circuit for dual brightness. I want to build my own LED tail turn lights in a custom shape. I know you can buy ll57 style LED bulbs, so how do they do it?

Diodes are used in both the (taillight) circuit and (brake light) circuit.
Diodes only allow current to flow in one direction thus preventing back-feed from the brake light circuit to the taillight circuit and vis-a-versa.

Use a 1N4002 diode or similar. These are rated at 1 amp, 100 volts.

Arrangement of the circuiting for different combinations of LEDS for taillights vs. brake lights can look good.

To obtain a taillight (dimmer) light level, use a higher (value) resistor in series with the LEDS than used for the brake lights (brighter) light level.

You need to experiment with different value resistors to get the desired look of the taillight.
