I made some zoomies cuz I had the time and I need to tie them togather but also fastin them to the car to make them secure.[no teathers yet]I can make a hanger from the frame near the pipes but I need some ideas if you can help.Thank you.
Sorry but those aren't "zoomies" as in top fuel zoomies, those are extended fender well weed burners.....and why would you want to fasten them to the car? They have to be able to move a little as the engine torques.
the car hooks very well pulling the front tires off the line but wrinkle the hell out of the sidewalls with stiff sidewall slicks and tubes with 13# air.The SS springs are for 3800# car and mine is 3900 with me in it[scaled]
My engine/exhaust actualy moves very little with having a front engine plate but with the the thrust of the exhaust I worry.I guess I will have to weld them togather and see how much I can make it move pushing on it.
I was thinking about a short rubber mount! The car is for race but I made a collector for it as in my pic on the track above but I needed to redo the turnout so I started on the zoomies for fun.I may be able to go off the fender clip with a short rubber or even wire cable.
I would think about tethering them. Maybe the cable idea that NHRA requires. The kits usually sell for 120 or so. Southern Rods n Customs has em for a lot less and does some custom lengths. Looks pretty easy to fab; this link is more for ideas than anything. Weed Burners R Cool! Tommy Ivo loved em. They may give up power though, as has been said
Keep the tubes from hitting the frame or body. Flat strap, welded across all 4 tubes on top with a tab and a hole. Put a corresponding tab and hole welded to the body seam. Attach the 2 tabs with thick reinforced rubber strap using 5/16ths bolts and nylock nuts.
That sound good!I will actualy be in IHRA in Thompson Ohio and Dragway 42 now that that track is getting totally redone.I will be running from 9.0 to 8.50 ET and the IHRA may not require tethers as of yet.
I am sure any extended pipe outside the fender will need a tether with the exception of a full exhaust. My pipes slip on just inside the wheel well.
