Unhappy The Honda

I got to work Thursday morning and antifreeze was coming out from under the car, I got under it and figured out it was the water pump. I was only 55 miles from home , fantastic. Poured almost a gallon of antifreeze in it and got it home, surprisingly the gauge didn't go any higher than it normally does.

Saturday, myself and my old boss, who is a real mechanic, put on a water pump, timing belt, balance shaft belt, thermostat, and valve cover gasket. If you ever have to do this it's not an easy job, you have to pull the valve cover, unbolt the alternator, power steering pump, take out the drivers side motor mount, jack the engine up, then start to actually change parts.

Sounds like a good work out akm. Some Harley riders look like they would benifit from pushing their bikes a couple miles a day.

Ghetto Jet,

Thats one thing nice about the Honda engines, you can treat them bad and they will keep runing. My wife ran the oil out of her CRX more times than I liked, kept on going.

You callin' me fat now there tough guy! j/k

One time I was on my way home in the weeeee hours of the mourning and my bike just died. I had some problems with my fuel filter in the past and figured she was clogged or maybe I ran her to low on gas. Since it was the middle of the night I just started pushing. By the time I got to the front of my house I almost couldn't walk, I was wiped. Problem was my garage was on a hill and my driveway had a pretty decent incline. I was so tired that I had to go inside and wake up my wife to come out and help push the bike up the driveway and into the garage. In the morning I first checked for gas in the tank (Ok), checked the filter (Ok), carb (Ok). Then I moved into spark check mode, pulled a wire and found I had no spark, hmmm. I looked to check the coil under the gas tank and there was my problem. The primary wires on the coil are held on to the posts (= & -) with small nuts. One nut had vibrated loose and fell right off leaving the wire hanging. A quick trip to the hardware store and she was good to go. Since that day I lock-tite everything I possibly can on that bike. Pushing sucks!

PS. Don't ever get one of those Honda timing belts off a tooth, ooouuch.

60convert thanks for info about the seal and yes it wouldn't have been to bad with a lift in a bay, hell a a paved driveway would have been nice, we were doing this in the stones.

dmorris it's easy to be a tough guy on a message board, but I looked in your gallery, you're not fat, maybe you should lose 15 pounds, but you're not fat. j/k

Funny, my wife says the same thing. By the way, a word to the wise. "Maybe you should lose 15 pounds" would not be considered the correct response your wife is looking for.

Oh, I don't know......maybe it's the right thing to say if you wanted say....a few good hours of uninterrupted time in the garage by yourself. Then again, you'll be doing a lot of things by yourself!
