Can anyone help with what type of oil goes in a Hone-o-drive, overdrive unit, fitted to a 1935 Rolls Royce inbetween the gearbox and the rear axle with 2 short propshafts joining it all together, any advice appreciated thanks barry

That's still a current or re-introduced unit. I think it's now owned by gear vendors. You might check their website.

Hone o drive

Thanks guys, spoke to Gear vendors in CA and there unit is not the same as the Hone one, more like a modern 60's british Leycock one.
Have a friend in CA and most people he spoke to said to use automatic fluid in it
It really is a nice piece of kit if you ever find one and really does drop the engine revs 30%
cheers barry in the uk

First one I ever saw was in 1970-72. Also Hot Rod or Car Craft did an Hone article in early 70's too. It featured a 454 Chevelle/4-speed with the OD unit. Really a cool piece.

Hi Barry, Ok the question is a bit old (2006) but I ma thinking that there cannot be that many Rolls-Royces with the Hone O Drive fitted and so I wonder if I am now the owner of your Rolls. The chassis number of mine is GCJ 35. John Constantine
