hood scoop question

I'm 80% sure I'm going with a ram air induction, however. Should I happen to see a scoop design that really suits the 69 impala I'll go for that cause the girl wants for paint anyhoo. But heres my question. Does a person have to re-brace the hood to account for the hood bracing he's cutting through for breather hole? If I recall all of my hood bracing intersects over the breather. I cant imagine that can all just be cut out without replacing with something. I'd like thoughts and also some possibilities of scoop designs. Thankyou

well you could just reconnect the bracing all around the area that is being remove for the scoop .. but I would do that before I cut it, to keep the shape true ....

If you are adding a steel scoop, like a weld-on cowl induction scoop, the added bends and shapes of the cowl scoop adds a good deal of stiffness when it is welded to the hood.

I have never seen anyone add a hood scoop and try to refit the underhood bracing, it isn't necessary, and will interfere with the carb/air cleaner if the goal was to add more carb to hood clearance for tall intakes and/or spacers. Bracing will also be in the way if you are going to build an air pan to seal the top of the carb to the scoop.

The hood will hold it's shape just fine, it will just bend easier in an accident is all.
