Hooking up a 350 turbo speedometer cable to 96 s10

Hello guys I am getting ready to install a 350 turbo transmissoin into a 96 chevy s10. The gauges as far as speedometer goes I don't know if its electrical for mechanical for sure but what all would I need to look for and to hoop up my speedometer cable? I just got a cable from advance auto parts. Thanks guys for any help.

96 s-10 has a electronic speed-o.

you will need the reluctor wheel for the out pit shaft, perhaps get it off the privious trans ( 4l60e?) ,

You need a BOP style tail housing, the large VSS to install into the tail housing.

I believe the the plug will fit the large VSS and plug in.

Hello well the 96 s10 currently has a 700r4 and a 350 vortec already and that is how I bought it last year. I am puttin in a rebuilt 350 and 350 turbo transmission and the truck did not have any speepometer cable to begin with so I have no idea on where to start out at. Thanks for help any more input would be appreciated.
Eric

if the vehicle has been gutted of the wire harnesses & computer ; PCM ... the speed-o will not function.

Or is this an EFI 350 engine with a 4L60e transmission?

1996 s-10 is not a cable speed-o

cut a hole in the dash , buy a cable style speed-O and install, if the computer and wires have been gutted out ?

This is a carbed 350 and there are no electronics left they have all been taken out. All the stuff under the dash is still there and un touched. What ever electronic hookup's that where there where unplugged and left. I guess I will have to get a speedometer to put in my dash and customize I guess. Thanks

the key phrase here is

there is nothing there to compute the signals for the speed-O.

There may be some way of getting the proper signals to the in dash speed-O , I do not know of one.

If you find one, let us know... or maybe some member here will speak up. Plenty of vehicles with computer stuff removed.

www.jagsthatrun.com has converters that convert mechanical signal to electronic for very reasonable prices. $40-50 IIRC.

However,
A 96 model S10 will need more than just the VSS signal for the dash to work.
IIRC they use a DRAC and the PCM would need to be wired up with at least power to give a signal to the BCm to control the dash speedo.
