Hooking Up My New Quincy Compressor

Hey guys,

I'm real excited I just had my new 60 gallon Quincy compressor delivered Friday. I do have a question though. My previous compressor was a 7.5 horse 80 gallon Campbell Hausfeld which I never had an issue with and was about 10 years old. Long story my neighbor wanted it back.

Obviously my electric panel was hooked up correctly with the black and red to the breaker in the panel and then the ground. I figured the hook up would be the same. However the directions seem to be a little different. I'm sure it's because it's newer. So I just wanted to make sure I got it right. I've attached a copy of the directions along with a picture. It looks like I splice my red wire into their red covered (white) wire and my black wire to the far left screw terminal after I attach a wire spade to my black wire. Then the ground. Do you guys see anything different? Am I missing something? Thanks

Dave

sounds right,,,but to clarify...its a 240 motor, that looks like it connects 120 direct to motor, and then uses the 2 contacts in the switch to share the current so as not to burn out the contacts...
so, 120 to the red covered wire, 120 to the terminal on left, and ground to the metal..

Guys the red taped (white) wire isn't coming out of the left screw terminal. After I looked at it it looked deceiving. That's just where it decided to lay. It's actually coming in from the right side and it's not attached to anything, It's one of the wires coming into the box but not connected to anythng. I hope that clarifies that? Thanks
