Hookup fuel pressure regulator

I am using a small Holley carb on a mild 4.3L Chevy V-6 and have a nominally 50 PSI electric in-tank pump. There is no possability of a mechanical fuel pump --
I bought a fuel pressure regulator with two ports and a gauge. My questions are where to locate regulator (is near tank with short return better?), how to plumb it up (tee the inlet?), and how much pressure to set it for
Any help appreciated!

I mounted mine on the firewall behind the distributor. However you didn't mention which regulator you have. To make it work you'll need the Holley Bypass regulator.
