I purchased heads as the first bolt-on(after headers) to go along with the Edlebrock manifold. Here they are if interested: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1840747262&ssPageName= ADME:B:BN:US:1 (I hope it is OK to post the link).

Now my dilemma: Keep in mind this is on a '36 Ford Pickup street rod. I have started the project with the chroming the engine. I have completed the chroming, including braided line, except for bolting on the polished manifold and the heads. This first year I am not hell bent on performance, but I must have some. Engine appearance right now is everything. I do not have time between now and Hot August Nights to get the paint done the way I want it.

The engine was painted red (along with everything else on the truck) by the original frame-off owner. My Question (finally): Do I paint the heads black or is there some sort of clear coat I can put on them to keep the appearance 'as is'. AND what would you do?

I am going to keep posting my bolt-on blow by blow, to let everyone know where I see performance gains. Example: the headers really seemed to help up high, but I think I lost a tiny bit off idle.
