Hopping up a Straight Six
Hi,
I have a 25" 1950 dodge straight six. I will be tearing it down and rebuilding. It has 97 horses at the moment, and I've got a few possibilities for increasing this, and I'd like peoples opinions on what to do, and why, and if possible the possible hp and/or performance increase.
I will be splitting the intake and exhaust, but have 2 possibilities on the intake, one with 2 one barrel carbs, and the other with 2 2 barrell progressive carbs. Which should I use? I'll be making sure the head and engine are straight, but would decking be worth it, and by how much? The dual exhaust will be going out the back without crossovers, and smithys. There is also the possibility of a rebore, and a cam grind that I've been thinking about. The engine has 60000 miles on it..... any thing else that anyone can think of?
Of course, this does not include switching engines (especially not a SBC, mopar will stay in mopar), because I want to keep the look of the old engine.... but I don't want to go 500 mph either.... speed is not the issue, just looks, better performance, sound....
