Horn button

Can one of you guys tell me how the horns originally worked on these older vehicles, I see the single wire coming out at the very bottom thru a hole in the steering box and that runs up to the button on the wheel ( which I am assuming acts as a switch ) but how did the horn originally get any power ?

I have the schematics for the truck but they do not even show a horn within the wiring diagram.

Button usually just sends a -Ground to a Relay which actvates the Horn.

Yep....The horn circuit was live all the time, when you grounded the horn button, it closed the circuit.
That is why you saw horns go off by themselves sometimes.....it would somehow get grounded

Funny you mentioned that. A few years back my daily driver/gas saver 93 Mazda Protege did that. Got real cold one night & the cover over the Horn button actually shrank/sucked in and the Horn has been stuck On since then. Skint/Cut my knuckles bad trying to unplug that ear Blaster. :boxing: :smash: :pain:
