Thought that the 67 still used the 289, not a 302.............correct me if I am wrong.

67's never had a 302, only 289, and if it's the stock c-code 289 4.7L then it has 235 horse power with a 4v carb, coming stock out of the factory. 67's are also the first year of the resto mod mustangs.

The 302 came out in '68.

In '67 the 289 2V (C code) was rated from the factory at 200hp.

The 289 4V (A code) was rated at 225hp.

The 289HiPo (K code) was rated at 271hp.

All numbers are gross at the fly wheel.

You can check www.summitracing.com for some Hedman headers.
Entry level header well under $200. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

You obviously would like to bump your performance up some. Consider a intake & carb change. Also, check to make sure you don't have "granny" gears out back.

If the Mustang is really a '67 and it has "302" emblems, someone has obviously changed the emblem. Doesn't mean they changed the engine too.

On the front drivers side of the block, just at where the heads attach, there is a flat machined surface approximately 1/4" X 3/4" that has a date code stamped in it. You may need to scrub off dirt/paint to read the numbers there. Will look something like "7C15". That is the assembly date of the engine. It's a better clue than the emblem on the side.
