What answer can we give that will make you happy? 150 to 500 means that you need to run it down the track and put it on a dyno to know for sure. The rest is just guessing.
X makes vortex....which is when you get home at 2am smelling like rye and strippers and your wife starts yelling....and you get trapped....in the vortex...
probably not vorte heads. gonna pull the top off and try and figure it out. it has at least 300 hp. I know that one for a fact, i have a 72 chevelle as well and with its modifications comes out to about the same amount of power. I have to get it dyno'd. the chevelle is 320 right now
Which heads?
Which ede intake?
Which summit cams and why are there 2?
Stock bottom end?
Don't recall Nova cop cars....and Im pretty versed in cop cars....
So really......150-500 seems like a reasonable answer without the info needed.
just took a simple google search. I bought the car with these specs and it's pretty damn quick considering the frame is only 2800 pounds or so, so considering my old 100 horsepower civic does 0-60 in 8 seconds stock, then it explains why this car is so damn quick.
bygddy,we had the 400 cube nova police cars here in BC.I worked at Firestone back then. We were selling the f-70-14 raised black wall tires for $30.00 retail when the cops dropped the nova contract with GM.
The tires had a crappy TPC tread design.
Are you kidding me?! Wow......I stand retarted!....er....corrected....and Vinnie.....how old are you lol.....I always assumed you were my age....40....now, I suspect I'm off a bit
Im 55 next week bud, look at my user name and I posted it recently.I posted my age because I was accused of not having any experience a while ago.
Or maybe Im immature? w/e,lol.
I know how that is.....I have a terrible habit of forgetting I'm actually almost 40. A fact my wife feels the need to remind me of every time I do something foolish. "You know your almost 40 right" said with a bemused expression on her face is like the mantra around my house....or the garage, or on a snowmobile, or in anything with some semblance of horsepower.....she keeps me from getting dead or arrested regularly....
Picture this, driving the wifes (at the time) BMW,3 boys in the back seat.
The oldest boy is talking about how a buddy was learning how to do an "E" brake 180.
3 boys cheering and one more than angry better 1/2.
Hahahahahah......that's fantastic....
I had a 4eyed GT about 8yrs ago, normal bolt on's, ten minute tune up mostly but with 373's...anyways, me and my boy, he was maybe 7-8 years old, we would just tour around my little village on a Dplate, couldn't afford to plate the stupid thing....so we would just go on small tours....small burnouts, nothing to bad....and he knew not to tell mom if dad was being "silly".....outside our town arena, showing off for a buddy, giant humungous 2nd gear burnout, t-top open, the damn wind caught us and absoluly sent all the smoke back into the car....it was sooo bad. Got home, he went inside, 2 seconds later she comes screaming out the Backdoor bellowing about how my kid reeks like burning rubber and there is black "dust" in his hair........I nearly fell over laughing......ahhhhh.....I miss that car....
.. I agree, about 250 - 290grossHP... nominal 8.5:1 but prolly actually 7.6:1 compression ratio... hence the poor MPG... domed pistons would pump HP up into 300's and 17-20 MPG... GM sells a Mexican SBC 350" crate engine built to mid 1970's spec's rated 290grossHP wimpy 330 lb.-ft. torque using 224/224 duration cam from 1960's L46 350HP 11:1 350" 'Vette engine.
.. Nova police cars were popular around here for a while... prolly had LM1 4bbl. 350" engines of 155-170netHP depending on exhaust setup... 225grossHP at 4200 RPMs with open headers... SBC 400's in those days rated 175netHP at 3600 RPMs... in '76 - '79, Nova 4-door bodies were stretched 4" between the doors to make midsized Cadillac Sevilles with EFI port fuel injected single plane aluminum intake Olds 350" engines, 2-bbl. throttle body, low compression, prolly about 155netHP...
.. After GM dropped the Caprice in 1996, they tried to put cops into Suburbans... some places out west and south used Camaro/Firebird and Mustang police cars... Big Buicks were made in Flint. Michigan and Flint used Buick police cars... Jeeps are made here and police/fire/city use some Jeeps...
