Ok, my 383 is almost done and I'm curious what kind of power I'm gonna get out of it.
Of course the bottom end is a 383 with flat top pistons 10:1
Cam is a custom grind from comp cams, duration .248/.254 @.50, lift .576/.582, 108 degree lobe seperation, 104 centerline on a 1.050 base circle.
Brodix Track One heads with 2.02/1.94 valves and a 69cc chamber.
Victor intake with a Holley 750
Hooker Comp Headers with single chamber Flowmasters and 3" pipe out the sides
How much snot do you think she'll make?
I also want to add a fogger system to it. The bottom end is all steel, how much laughing gas will it take? This is going thru an auto trans with 10" converter.
I personally hate the idea of anyone using nitros. It just plain aint honest power. I see it as cheatin. Just somethin else for someone who cant build an engine. Just my opinion.
I'm glad you feel that way but I hate to tell you this, the pro drag racers use it so maybe the guys building them $20,000 engines don't know what they are doing eh?
I have a friend that assembled a sbc 383 with fast burn heads. The engine is intended for a 1975 Pro Street Monza that is an attempt to build a 10 second street car.
The engine topped with an 850 Demon carb. was completed before the car was finished so he decided to temporarily install it in a 1967 Camaro Bracket Car for testing and tuning purposes.
The Camaro weighed 3190 lb. with a driver turning a TH400, 32 x 13.5 slicks and all of the racing goodies.
Off the trailer for the first time with a rookie driver the combination pulled an 11.67 sec. run while falling all over itself off the line.
After a semi-pro racer applied a tune to it was running 1.46 sec. 60 ft. times and 10.97 sec. quarter mile.
Based on my program PC HOTROD, this car is making 536 horsepower and 495 ft/lb. of torque with a redline of 6500.
The engine is a bit radical to say the least but is intended for street use in a Pro Street Monza body. The little Monza should really haul.
Based on what you are indicating about you engine and not knowing all of the details on my friends cam and other components you may achieve similar results.
One of the determining factors of your combination is the max rpm your engine will pull.
Did you include the right parts in you assembly to pull a safe and sound 6500 rpm redline?

I have a 383 stroker almost the same, a bit less cam. It hit the Dyno @ 488 HP. (when originally built) It was lots of fun in a 67 Camaro w/ 4.10 gears. The big problem was the car was a ragtop, way too much flex! Sometimes when it hooked up real well the body flexed enough to pop the passenger door open!
I would say you are maybe close to 475 or maybe 500 on the motor. You have good heads. Tune is everything. That cam is a lot of cam though, must be a roller solid? I think you could handle a 250shot. You will need to retard ignition about3-4degrees per 100hp. It should move a dump truck into the 11's.
