tbi didn't come on a 5.0 h.o.

sound's like a standard 305
so i would guess 160-180 hp
p.s. wrong forum.
this should be in intro to hotrodding.

just thought i would add this.
305 h.o. motor came with 4bbl up to 86-87 after that all h.o. motors were tpi.
the tbi motors were in rs and standard camaro's and the tpi motors were in the z28's

wow i was close.
it has 170 hp.

Hey, the TBI's were'nt bad at all!

The specs for the 1987 305 TBI is 170HP x 260 ft. lbs.

Somehow I REALLY dought is was 260 ft. lbs. though.

hah! the really sad one is the ss 454 full size pickups that i think were in the early 90's, something like 180 hp, cammon whats the point. quite a bit less than the LS-6 454 with 460 bhp in 1970, and it was probly under-rated to boot!

4.3's (actually using 1993 as a reference here) were doing 225 ft lbs, so 260 is probalby about right.

yeah its all about the cam and heads man. Why not drop a 400 in yours and you'll get an easy 400 horse. Won't be any comparing numbers anymore!

your tbi motor is a l03 which came in the formula's it isn't an h.o. motor.
the h.o. 5.0 is a lb9 which came only with tpi.

yes i too owned a 84 z with 190 hp h.o. motor.
they had more power than the tbi motor''s because the tbi motors are not high output.
