new member, thanks for your help ,i changed to chrome alternator today and going along at 50-55 mph it registers all the way over on the gauge,can anyone tell me whats wrong? everything else seems fine.its 350 small block chevy,thanks.also its not a one wire

With the limited info, I would say it is likely that you have a regulator problem.

i do have the small [3x3][i think]regulator,. no problems before i changed the alternator. never seen one that small before

Doesn't your new alt have an INTERNAL regulator? Are you hooked up to TWO regulators??
