hot linelock

i just installed a linelock, left it on cut on for 5 min, it got very hot to the touch, is the valve just made to use for short time, like 30 seconds, it is wired right.

yes they are designed to be used for short duration such as 30 seconds- 1 minute. Did you put it so it holds the front brakes locked or did you put it on the pipe to the rears so that it shuts off the rears? They also normally come with a button switch that you have to keep pressed in rather than a toggle switch and normally you mount it on the shifter handle so you can operate it and change from 1st to second without moving your hand off the shifter. We mount them on the rear brake pipe so you press the switch in, then depress the brake pedal and then you can drive along using the footbrake to slow the fronts whilst no fluid gets to the rears= lots of tyre smoke and also this way you can let your finger off the button occasionally reducing the overheat problem of the solenoid.
