Hot Rod mag covers

Was looking for the early '70s cover of Garlits in stars and stripes and that ugly rear engine rail and ran across this. Brought back some good memories...

Thanks. Seems the book was overstocked, a "new" copy (Warehouse Special! Overstock from publisher. NEVER USED, with light wear from shelving!) can be had for <$12, to my door. So I bought a copy.

My old HR mags (were my Dad's, including quite a few old, small format editions among them) went to a disabled children's hospital when I had moved to AK years ago. If not for where they went, I'd be pissed more than I was. But it still bums me to this day.

If you need any old issues go on EBay, I bought the first HotRod I ever had and all of 1962.
Every ten years or so I have to clean them out, I keep the current year at hand then they go into "storage".

Yeah, I played w/that idea. But the ones I lost were my Dad's, they even had our address on the mailing sticker on the covers of many of them. Just not the same replacing them w/mags from somewhere else. Besides, for what they'd cost to replace I couldn't justify the expense when the same money could build an engine.

A while back here on the forum I tried my darnedest to give away a pile of car magazines (CC, HR, CT, CHP mainly) and had no takers. Go figure. I ended up putting them in a box by the transfer station office; told the guy they were free to anyone who wanted them. Never bothered to ask if they were taken or tossed.
