Hot Rodders Show in Beaverton Oregon

I have been encouraged to come to the hotrodders show on Fri in Beaverton, Or. If there is any Oregon people watching It's at Lambs Thriftway on West Farmington Rd. It will be a month before my Monza can roll on it's own but it will be good to talk to a lot of my friends. I will take some pics and post.

Show in Beaverton

On the way home tonight I will drive by Lambs Thriftway and tomorrow I will give you exact directions. At this point I know how to get there but don't know the cross streets. They have one there every Friday in the summer. It is usually about 100 cars. Looking forward to meeting you there.

That soundds good. Thank you.

PrimeMover 07-11-2006 06:21 PM

What time does it start? If it's on Friday, it must start pretty late and go till nine or ten - no? I,ve got last weekend's bugs all over my frontend and the 53 needs a good detail job. This might be a good excuse for me to get off my butt and get it done.
I never got the flyer for that one. Keep us posted, Thanks. :welcome:

I called my buddy Jerry last night and told him about this Beavertown Thriftway gig. He's got a concourse 57 Belair Hardtop that does a lot of sitting <pity>.. He says he won't drive his car westbound on 26 anywhere's close to rush hour, just too many yuppie kooks goin' home frantically trying to dial thier cell phones with the pedal to the metal in the fast lane. I talked him into riding shotgun with me in the 53, so count us in. I'm game for a little asphalt show punishment as long as there are some good looking gals to look at. Haven't been to more then about two west side cruises in the last three years. This'll be a good chance to maybe see a few cars I haven't seen a gazillion times before, besides... I'm on vacation starting Thursday.

Look for my avtar car. We'll be there or be square. :D

This usually gets started about 6:30 and lasts until about 9:00. the Thriftway store is on Farmington Rd. about 1/2 mile beyond SW 170th. About 40-60 cars are generally in the lot and being next to a DQ you have coffee and ice cream available.
If primemover comes to the westside he can give me tips on my 53.
A word of caution Farmington road west from Murray at 6-6:30 is congested and slow.

Bad Rat 07-12-2006 11:56 PM

best way to get there is take Farmington rd west to Kinnaman , there is a station on the corner, then you can see the Dairy Queen and all the other stores,, best to get there a little early to get the best parking spots,, most congrete around the Washington mutual bank,, but there is usually lots of room to park,, Bill

PrimeMover 07-14-2006 09:38 AM

Hey Billy, man... so you're goin too? Now I know I'm gonna show up!! Let's freakin' erase all the myths.. Coffee at 8:00pm'll most likely make me wet the bed but as long as it comes with cookies I'm good to go. :D
At work yesterday, I called the Farmington Thriftway and confirmed the deal. The gal I talked to said the big Bale's T-way cruise happens in August but the Friday night thing's happenin' tonight too.

I dare ya ta get out your old avtar Ford for this one, Bill. I wanna hear them zoomies!!

I'll be there for sure... See ya tonight guys.

Sorry everyone I know I started this post and haven't been around to finish. We delivered 125 cars this week and it has been a little hectic. I will be there this evening. Thanks for those of you that picked up the tab and answered questions.

Hey Prime and Bob,, was great meeting you guys tonight, we'll have to do that more often,, to bad its so far across town,, there is usually a good turnout there,, and a good variety of cars,,, I didn't notice your chebby puffin any smoke,, so it must have been minor,, hope to see you guys next week maybe?? :D my treat on the ice cream. Later Bill

Hiya Bill - yeah, that was a neet car gig. No politics, just some real nice cars and good people. If you're wondering why I'm up so dang early, I had this really real, live in living color nightmare last night and woke up in a cold sweat. I had to go out and check the 53 to see if it was ok. It must have been the combination of those two beers, the jalapenios on that Subway sandwich and the family-size ice cream cone I ate that pushed me over the edge.. :D
The 53 never smoked an ounce and never missed a lick all the way home. I think what happened was, we showed up so early last night, we stopped in at that crowded little sports bar up the street and had a few beers. I had to park kinda caddywompus on this little hill in the parking lot. I figure with my hi volume oil pump slingin' oil all over the place, maybe a little oil in my motor must have drained down where it wasn't supposed to be, but It's all good now. :D
Don - your little 53 sedan's really straight and looks perfect in those rally wheels. I know what you mean about 53 stockers not being very fun to drive but, once you get the stovebolt stuff out from under the hood and a new frontend under it, it'll drive and move as good as it looks.
Bob - I can't wait to see that little hotrod Monza ya'll are workin' on, do a 9 second pass with your wife behind the wheel.
Had a good one guys, thanks for the invite. Comin' from my side of town traffic's the only bummer with that one... It was a good test for the cooling system though. With the cam I've got, I give the 53 a B- in rush-hour traffic. ;)

Later guys :welcome:

I just read the latest on last nights get together in Beaverton, It was a nice gathering with a lot of nice cars.
Charlie, I will be calling in the future for some pointers on getting my 53 in shape for next summer. I ran my wife and car home and remembered something I wanted to see on your car, but by the time I got back You and friends were gone.
Hope you guys from the Eastside can struggle west again sometime I know how bad traffic is from one side of town to the other.

PrimeMover 07-15-2006 10:37 AM

Don - Nice to meet you and your wife! You know Big Jim eh? he always shows up to the Maupin run and the Motorsport joint down the street from me. I've always wanted to win one of those Bill Jerone Hotrod models he builds but never been lucky enough at the raffle to get one. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a new 53 grille, they're around. Once you get all your stuff rounded up and get ready to do the thrash on your sedan, Let me know. In the mean time, happy motoring.

The big Rock Around the Block thing is out in downtown Gresham today. I'm gonna run out there for a few hours and check out the cars.

PM me any time. Charlie
