hot rodding sixty year oold swede

need information about mallory 4748201 unilite distributor that i installed in my 55 chevy but i do not understand if i have to use the ballast resister or not. the end result is the car will not start and the plugs are soaking wet

Doc here,

First you have No spark, Check power to your red wires to the box and others..you might be losing primary ignition during cranking, and may require a secondary ignition from the "I" terminal on the solenoid..

Next go here:

Go BACK to the home page and select the troubleshooting data for your system..

That should help a bit..
