hot start problem

ok guys, if u would bear with me, i got a good 1 for ya, 76 ventura, 250 inline, with offy intake and a 465 cfm holley economizer carb. this car i have got quite some time and effort into this thing and would hate to think im losing my abilities here, but this thing when it gets hots going to frequent stops around town., just almost seems like the fuel is either dumping through the carb after i shut it off., or its evaporating, and maybe rushing a bunch of fuel when i try to start it., and usually have to hold the gas down to get it to catch. it cold starts fine, runs good, and i just had the carb apart a couple weeks ago and cleaned it out and freshened it up.(car sat for 1 1/2 yrs) i run 2 inline filters and have got this thing dialed in., but coming out of the store or just running errands, i hate shutting it off, cause it dont start worth a crap... any ideas would be greatly appreciated...
p.s. my wifes car is a 79 phoenix with a 231 v-6 and a rodchester 2 jet that i built when i went through motor and trans on it. it starts right up no matter when or where. havent done anything to it since i put it together except oil changes and tranny services. and that was 3 years ago., and hasnt failed emissions yet. lol.

thsmith10,

It sounds to me like you set the floats a little too high. When you stop the car and the heat from the engine builds up in the carb the fuel then boils over into the intake which will cause the problem you are talking about, that is HARD starting.

Good Luck
