hotrod door hindges.

im buildin a extremely low budget ride, 1930 olds jolopy.
im about to mount the doors, but i had to cut the old hindges off because they were rusted shut.

has anyone made their own hindges?
my plans are to suicide the doors, and make my own barrel hindges out of 5/16 plate and 1/2" x 3/8" tubing about 2" long
with the door shut, right below the window frame come throu the body(where ever) and mount the tubing so it sits aprox. 1" from the outside body panel. use 5/16 thick strap steel to mount the pin on the door to fit inside the tubing. same on the bottom.

i know it would probally be easier to buy some, but im going for the cheapest and most original!
what do you guys think?

Body: traded for a chevy 350 i got for free
trans: was given to me after i tried to buy it but i couldnt
come up with the funds.
frontend: off the same 30 Olds was donated for the project.
rearend : from a 65 chevy truck that was given to me after i stripped
the guys truck for him. came with truck arms, and panhard
already installed
steering box: thrown in with the engine deal.
front brakes: donated off a 36 chevy.
29 ford headlights: given to me
26 chevy grille shell: buddy picked it up for me for 15 bucks, free for me
RIMS: 17" artilery wheels : donated
things i have paid for...

chassis: $500 for steel for chassis, body frame, and temp bracing. bought it
after i sold some parts i aquired.
radiator: $35 a swapmeet

abrasives: $150 had to gear up for the project, damn those go quick!

so basically, i have 185 into this project + the 44.30 i just spent for more steel today, so $229.30

im sure ill have to spend more money once the suspension starts to go together, but ill keep it under 1K!!!
