Thumbs up a Hotrodders.com success story!!!

well, it's been awhile since my steering gear went out, forcing me to park my truck. since i was replacing the steering gear, i thought to myself, why not go ahead and have the motor rebuilt? it really needed it. if Killerformula had of seen me, he'd of told someone. well, in the mean time, i came across this site while searching for some body and paint tips. i got to reading and somehow got the idea that i could do it myself, so i did. i did everything. EVERYTHING. except the machine work on the motor.

Today, i solved the mystery of why i wasn't getting any spark, and got the bad mutha started. it fired right up, and man, open headers are badas$. got the cam broke in, have great oil pressure. don't know yet if it's charging... i'll figure out tomorrow or the next day.... changed oil. drove around the yard.

so if anyone out there doubt's whether or not they have the ability to rebuild an engine, or do a frame on resto, rest assured, if I can, anyone can. (well, maybe not Slanty!)

so, I would like to give my gratitude to the wonderful friends i have here at Hotrodders.com. if not for you guys, i couldn't have done it. Ya'll are first rate.
Thanks, Crazy Larry Slaughter

Congrats and thanks for the knowledge and passing it on to us novices.

We all knew you could do it anyways!

CONGRADULATIONS LARRY!!!

That's great to hear. I'll always remember the satisfaction I felt after buliding my first engine, not because it was that fast but because every time I took her out there was that satisfaction of knowing that I built her. Good luck!!

Larry.... I am sorry to hear about your bad luck. Since you got it running, now you won't have time to do all of that other stuff you were thinking about doing. You'll be driving it around to show that it is running. Everyone knows that you can't work on a vehicle while it is going down the road.

Congrats

It's about time, the ladies here at the brothel are running me ragged. Since you have been working on that darn car I have been left to attend to their...ummm...needs. There is only so much a man can take Larry, it's your turn to give these ladies a hot oil massage...my shoulders are killing me. I need rehabilitation to learn to walk again!

Hope this priapism goes down soon, it's becoming difficult to find pants that fit.

There's two things that occur when it's a total success story.

Goose bumps with the hair on the back of your neck standing up.

Your butt will pucker.

The goose bumps will apear on your arms shortly before the hair stands up on the back of your neck. This all takes place right after firing 'er up for the first time and hearing the sounds of that little fire breathing dragon that you created for the first time.

You butt will/should pucker after the first time driving it. Yes there's nothing like an open diff where she's grabbin asphalt from side to side, all the while you're tryin' to keep 'er from crossin' up on ya'. Just a little jerk on the wheel under a hard launch get's this action started easier. It's real fun getting thrown around the cab while trying to keep 'er in a reasonably straight line.

Did you go with the 390?

If I remeber right, you were going the 302 route. If you still have the 390, build it next, you'd be amazed at how stout those suckers are, even rebuilt bone stock.

Larry, walking, talking, proof that there is "nothing to it, just do it". Nothing gets done until you take that first step, even if it is scary. The next time, you will dive in with out flinching near like you did this time. I still flinch ever time I crank one over the first time after a rebuild!!

Congrats!!
