PHOTOS of the Hotrodders.com get together at the Dream Machine show.
Well after getting into town a little early and thinking the guys wouldn't make it there by show time I went ahead and went to the show early, just to see how it looked. They were letting people in early (2 hours before it "opened") and I just went in. After being there a fifteen or twenty minutes Dewey (cboy) calls and says he is at the Main street grille where we were supposed to meet! Darn it, I didn't think they would get there that fast being they were so far away when Mikey called. Anyway they had a nice breakfast in my favorite place and I had a nice phillycheese steak at the show. :)
Anyway, I have to tell all you guys, Dewey, his son Von and Girlfriend along with Dan (Dinger) are some super stand up guys. Mikey, and his son Michael I already knew were great guys. Really, we had a good time (at least I did, they may be talking among themselves at this very minute about what a horse's ars I am). The show, what can I say, awesome as expected. I mean, where else can you see and hear an original Hemi powered 1953 Chrysler Air Raid siren and have your son be asked if he would like to sit in a $200,000 Ferrari? How about watching a B-17 flyby as you are standing there looking at freestyle motorcycle show? Next year, more of you have got to get out there! Dammmm, Brian, you're fast! What a great show, best I've ever been to in all my years. And Brian's right, we've got some verrry cool members on this board. I had a great time. I told my wife we'd probably leave by 2 or so, never been to a car show that I couldn't see it all in a couple of hours, I think it was about 5 when we left. I got home about 11 last night after the drive from Mikeys place in Gilroy, I am beat, sunburned and happy, got to get ready for work now.

I just arrived back in Wisconsin after a great day meeting up with a number of my heroes from HR. Com. So these shots are hot off the press (and still might need a bit of editing a little later).
This first batch is of the members who made it. Here's the "group". From left to right - Cboy (Dewey's) son Vaughn and girlfriend Sally, Dinger (Dan), Powerrodsmike (Mikey's) son, Mike, Mikey hisself, Cboy hisself, MartinSr (Brian) and Brian's son, Nick. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29583&stc=1 Below is Mikey forcing himself to eat his Weight Watcher's lunch...a giant pretzel. From left to right Dan, Nick, Brian, Mikey and little Mikey. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29585&stc=1 Mikey showing off his good side...and demonstrating to Nick how to remove troublesome acne via an airplane propeller. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29586&stc=1 Cboy's son Vaughn and the best lookin' HR.Com representative at the show - Sally. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29587&stc=1 |

In addition to the many other activities at the show there was a nice demonstration of dirt bike jumping. These guys even did a few back flips...which , unfortunately, I didn't get focused properly.

And, of course, some great hot rods. The Peterbuilt custom was absolutely wild.

And a few more of the rods.
Like I said, it was great fun to actually meet these HR.Com members face to face...after many years of knowing them only through cyberspace. I highly recommend it to any of you who ever get the chance. We have great folks on here...and they are even greater in person. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29598&stc=1 http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29599&stc=1 http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29600&stc=1 http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29601&stc=1 http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/atta...id=29602&stc=1 |
re;hotrodders get together at the dream machine show
Man......wish I could have been there! What do we have coming up in florida? Anyone? Tom

This is what you do, no kidding. You get ahold of the promotor of this event, it is right there on their website. You talk to them about doing one on the east coast. Possible? Maybe, who knows, you don't know of you don't ask. They may be thinking about others already.
Second, you contact promotors in your area and pass along the idea, they have maybe never even heard of such a thing. Third, you do one yourself! I would put money on it the promotors of this show would give you tips (that is if they have no plans of spreading their wings and doing others around America). But honestly, it is a super interesting event, mixing all these different hobbies into one place. Amazing idea (makes total sense, but they are the only ones that I know of to think of it) and pretty easy. Brian |

We have a couple of shows here in WI that combine cars and the steam power machinery, as well as the bikes. So those parts would not be too difficult. But I would think the addition of airplanes adds a whole new slew of challenges to pulling off a show like this. Brian, do you know if this started off as just an air show or has it always been a multi-machine event? |
"easy", oh yeah that was easy to say wasn't it.
I was obviously taking a vacation from reality to say that. It would be a HUGE undertaking. But for an experianced promotor it is just an idea that they haven't done yet. I am not sure, but there have been a few shows around here that were on air strips. So adding the planes coming in wouldn't have been a big deal. I am not sure how it began 18 years ago. I went to my first about twelve or 15 years ago and it was pretty much the same as this one was. Brian |
