I've started from worse - and so have several of my friends
What gets me is the guys who insist on starting from a near-mint car and then they go and get new fenders, doors, firewall, pillars, roof, floors etc - everything they would need if they had started with THIS one!
It's "real Henry steel"...you'd probably get 10k for it on ebay...
I think my '38 looked about like that when the PO drug it home. It's a solid car but the body is rough and needs metal work before paint. I just drive it...
It depends on what drives you.
Do you ever start any kind of project and leave a couple/few unfinished details?
If the answer is yes, forget it. A project like that has so much to do you may get overwhelmed. This usually occurs about ten minutes after UPS dropped off the very last expensive parts you need to finish.
Then you sell it all for 1/2 of what you paid.
If you think you're seeing something cheap there, it's not.
Just spend the money and get something half decent that needs a few repairs. If you can do OK on that, sell it off and get another that needs a bit more work, etc...
