How To Catylize a Pinstripe

I airbrushed flames onto the hood and fenders of my '49 chevy truck project. We cleared the basecoat first, then laid HOK paint in a gradient, then I airbrushed HOK real fire over the gradient. A buddy of mine that is pinstriper painted a black pinstripe around all of the flames. We were talking about how much clear it would take to be able to cut and buff and in the end not be able to feel the pinstripe and it came to our attention that the paint used for the pinstripe was an oil based paint and that we needed to "catylize" the pinstripe before clearing it. Does anyone have any idea what that process involves?

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.
