How to cover dashboard

I built a custom dashboard for my 1980 el camino out of an el camino dashboard and a 1980 camaro dashboard, and between them i sprayed in spray foam and bolted the dashboards together then used a layer of fiberglass on top between them to help make it rigid.

Now i have put a 1/4 inch foam pad on top of the dash and sawed all of the spray foam flat on the dashboard and i'm wondering how i can go about covering it. i have 3 yards of 54 inch wide vinyl and i don't know whether i should glue it on and cover the seams or have my friend attempt to sew me a cover that slips on like a cover for a seat.

or would there be an easier way to cover it in vinyl? any suggestions would help

If the dash doesn't have a lot of sharp angles or deep places then it would be better to glue the vinyl on with HHR (high heat resistant) top and trim contact adhesive, like DAP or 3-M. You won't find this glue at a home center, you need to get it at an upholstery supply place or from an upholsterer.

Hey Dan, Not to change the subject but where do you usually get your HH66 adhesive from? Also do you know who carries "Barges" rubber cement?

Thanks a lot!

Hey Recepswilliams, how bout some photos of that dash you created.

I don't use either one, but here's where to get the HH-66: CLICK HERE As far as Barge Rubber Cement, it's available all over the internet.
