How is this dash made?

This is from rad rides site - I understand that he starts with foam to get the shape , but I dont understand if it is body fill or fiberglass with body fill after that - looks like to would weigh a ton . do you think this is a template for fiberglass later? any thoughts on the process.

This seems to be foam out of the can. This gets pretty stiff and doesn't weigh much. But I don't think it's hard enough without further coating. You can knock a dent in this material with your fist without hurting yourself...

Regards
Martin

Thanks - I am sorry if you look at the addtional photos - it is a series - and looks like they move to fiberglass next- but if look at the last photo I cant tell if this would be the end product or what they use to make a mould from.

The foam is just a mold. It the foam was in place in the final product, you couldnt insert the gauges into the dash.

one layer of glass, then a glass gel coat layer, then sand and use filler to finish

to much curve for the glass cloth to lay down, use chopped glass.

strong enough for a dash face.

on the back side, cut the foam and glass in (wood) bracing so it can't twist and crack the face
