a quality after cat pipe setup is what you need , the headers will add a little more noise to the setup as the restriction and angles of the manifolds helps deaden some sound , but if you want quiet stay away from large pipes as they have a tendency to reverberate and make things louder , corsa is the only manufactuer that makes a quiet when you need it an loud when you get on it system and they are $$$$$ , other than that your going to have to make trade off in the system . borla is also a nice quiet system that burbles at low rpms .

There are different Magnaflow mufflers, both loud and not so loud. For a cheaper alternative look at Dynomax Hemi truck mufflers. They have a nice sound that will not drive you crazy at highway speeds. One of the best things you can do however is to carry the tail pipes out to the rear of the vehicle.

A balance tube would smooth things out too.

Also, the LS1 has a different firing order. A 4-7 swap cam for the classic SBC is available.
