I would like to install a 77 RS Camaro subframe in a 66 C-10 . Has any one out there ever done this , and do you have photos ? I would like to install it higher in the frame to give it the air bag look .
why install a subframe when you can bolt in a 73-87 c-10 suspenion and have the same results, ps, pdb, 5 lug bolt pattern. these trucks are laying all over. vans work also.
I agree. This mod makes very little sense. If you had a 55-59 truck then okay but what you are wanting to do is not the typical for that truck. A later model C-10 IFS will bolt right up to your frame.
jennings66c10, I have several pics at of the process of grafting a gen 2 subframe at www.meyerbrosrods.com\/photos/toms_57_chevy_truck/default.aspx. I hope this helps. Your truck would be very a very simular task since I believe your frame width is about the same.

Thanks a bunch for the photos . That is the look I was looking for . I have seen alot of the lay the frame on top of the subframe setups and yours will get me there , Thanks Mike
jennings66c10, Glad to be able to help. I decided to graph this way since it looks neater. But, there is nothing I can see that is wrong with the overlapping method with the exception of the appearance.
Critical things to consider with your sub-frame graph are:
1. Get the sub frame level left to right
2. Get the anti dive angle correct on the upper control arms of I believe is 7% - 9% angle towards the back. This is off the top of my head.
3. Get the wheel base correct front to back and diagonal cross measurement.
Note: The forward edge of the shock hole is the center of the wheel base.
4. Make sure the truck frame is level front to back and left to right.
5. Brace the graph area left to right across the truck frame on the top and bottom to keep the frame from moving around when you cut off the front of the frame.
Thanks for the info . I am still trying to figure out how to navigate this web site . My only problem with laying it on top is apperance coupled with getting the truck way down low . If the bottom edges of the frames were flush it would buy me a few inches . Using Camaro headers they will hang down below 2 inches which is fine .
